The kumu and ʻohana at ʻEhunuikaimalino are committed to perpetuating the language, customs, traditions, skills, spirituality and character of the Hawaiian people.

Haumāna are instructed with a strong focus on curriculum being created from a Hawaiian perspective and aligned to the kaiapuni standards put forth by the Hawaiʻi Department of Education’s Office of Hawaiian Education (OHE).  OHE has also created standardized assessments for grades 3-8 for language arts, math, and science in the Hawaiian language.  Haumāna are taught entirely in Hawaiian until the seventh grade.  Haumāna receive one hour of English language arts instruction daily starting at the fifth grade.  Eighth through twelfth grade haumāna are instructed in Hawaiian for most of their content area classes.

ʻEhunuikaimalino has both boy’s and girl’s volleyball and paddling.  For other athletic teams or clubs, our high school students are able to play for Konawaena High School teams. Parental participation is encouraged through a number of events and representation on the ʻAha Kauleo and our School Community Council (SCC).
